Ferrous Yard Inspector

Full-Time Position

Summary:
The Ferrous yard inspector is responsible for inspecting inbound loads of scrap. In this process the inspector will grade the load under a commodity code, check for nonconforming materials, make deductions for non metals etc. The inspector works in conjunction with the yard to efficiently direct inbound trucks to the appropriate stockpiles. This is an important role in the recycling process. It has a direct effect on our business of purchasing material from customers. It provides valuable feedback and resources for commercial and operational decisions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
-Documenting inspection tickets and pictures of loads with inspection tablet.
-Upload photos to shared cloud.
-Communicate with yard manager and provide feedback on quality.
-Communicate with Commercial and scale office to ensure accurate grading of loads.

Scheduled Hours for this Position:
7am-5pm Monday through Friday, 7am-12pm Saturday

Maintenance Technician

Full-Time Position

Summary:
Performs maintenance to keep machinery, mechanical equipment and building structures in repair and working order.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
-Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogs, as necessary.

-Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

-Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment.

-Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

-Diagnose and repair forklifts.

-Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills and wrenches and electrical equipment.

-Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical components, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.

-Record maintenance and repair work performed.

-Identify and order appropriate replacement parts.

-Prioritize tasks and work independently without direct supervision.

-Ability to do light electrical maintenance.

-Maintain regular attendance.

-Other assignments as determined by management.

Education and/or Experience:
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings or other structures.
Knowledge of electrical maintenance preferred but not required.

Language Skills:
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as repair manuals, parts catalogs, and blueprints. Ability to respond and provide information to supervisors, co-workers and vendors in verbal and in written form.

Mathematical Skills:
Knowledge of arithmetic. Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to determine when in-house maintenance is not appropriate and outside vendors must be used. The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged. The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work out of doors in all weather conditions and with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, use varied hand and power tools, drive a motor vehicle and/or heavy construction equipment; lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment; vision to read printed materials, auditory attention/hearing sensitivity to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical/maintenance problems. Ability to distinguish frequencies and sounds, color codes and odors in the operation of equipment in order to troubleshoot for repairs. Ability to bend, crawl, and kneel to access areas requiring repair or installation. Ability to climb a ladder. Ability to observe and report unsafe working conditions.

Licenses & Certifications:
Must possess valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Equipment & Tools:
Must possess appropriate maintenance & mechanical tools and bring them to the work-site. Must provide own transportation.

Maintenance Manager

Full-Time Position

Summary:
Coordinate maintenance, installation and repair work in/on buildings, equipment and property. Supervisor that is hands on, but can also delegate projects and while prioritizing workload throughout the maintenance dept.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
-Oversee and inspect repairs (major and minor) on Yard/Shop Equipment.
-Hiring, leading, training and annual reviews of department employees.
-Creating the work schedule and approval of timesheets (including PTO, Holidays, PAB)
-Collaborative work with other departments and managers when projects ensue.
-Attention to detail on projects from start to finish, including records on all maintenance.
-Oversee and assist all Fabrication projects.
-Traveling to pick up parts when needed.
-Traveling to the company locations daily to supervise projects and manage department.
-Maintain Inventory control of tools and supplies (Workable log- Document)
-Maintain and document log on all equipment each month/year for regular maintenance.
-Enforce safety regulations; recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work processes, this includes Welding and large machinery.
-Communicate timely with other managers and owner on relevant projects that concern equipment needing major repairs or a disruption in operations.
-Demonstrate positive customer service traits such as politeness, courtesy and patience.
-Interpret and communicate, company policies and procedures for employees.
-Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaint’s or grievances. Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among all departments.
-Maintain security access.
-Maintain confidentiality.
-Other assignments as determined by management.

At least 3-6 years’ experience in Welding/Fabrication. Previous supervisory experience with the ability to attend further education on leadership as required to succeed in the role. Knowledge of recycled materials and metals identification is a plus. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing superior customer service. Ability to learn Spanish. Must be able to read, write and understand English. Be proficient in the English language is critical to completing forms and safety documents that are required. Computer literacy is also vital for maintaining logs and other company documents on maintenance and repairs. Physical ability to operate equipment when/if needed. Physical abilities needed to oversee the Maintenance Department as well as assist in the Yard when needed.
